Tourism leaves a three billion pesos spill for Puebla

We have already seen that locals and foreigners are looking into Puebla as an option for visiting on holidays and other seasons. Due to the singularities this State offers like a perfect mix between modernity and past, Puebla has become a favorite for tourists.

Proof of this is that as of June, the state gained an economic impact of 3, 119 million pesos, as Roberto Trauwitz Echeguren, head of the Ministry of Tourism has declared.

During his visit to the State Congress, the state official said they have a projection of 8 billion pesos compared to the 7,500 million pesos that were achieved in 2012, achieving an increase of 500 million pesos.

He also said that since 2011, with the arrival of Rafael Moreno Valle to the State government, Puebla remains the first place in tourism growth, a situation, they hope to hold with the organization of conferences and world events, as well as activities such as the Museum Nights and the beginning Legend Nights, activities that will take place in Lake Harmony.

In an interview, Echeguren Trauwitz said that the week of the opening of the Star of Puebla, reported an influx of 21,000 visitors.

On the request of employers to open a gastronomic corridor in Linear Park, Trauwitz Echeguren reported having no application, but said that they plan to open two restaurants in the Art Park.

Undoubtedly, Puebla´s tourism and consequential economic spill are growing, a perfect moment for investment, visiting and planning.

Tlatlauquitepec will detonate tourism

 

The capital city, Cholula and Atlixco are not the only representatives and proud members of the State of Puebla, which has tradition, beauty, history, culture and novelty all through its extension. Several Magic towns and so many others that deserve the title, have made the State popular for its richness and beauty, attracting thousands of visitors and investors.

From January to July this year, the Magic Town of Tlatlauquitepec has received 22 thousand tourists who generated an economic impact of 14 million pesos, turning this town into one of the most visited in the State.

This was announced by the Secretary of Tourism Development and Training of the Ministry of Tourism of the State, Irving Mayett Mucino under the presentation of the Tlatlauquitepec Vive Fair L2013 to be held from September the 7^th to the 16^th. For this edition, there are expected 10,000 visitors and a spill of 4 to 5 million pesos.

In the fair there will be a series of cultural events with regional dances, craft shows, painting, dancing, a bullfighting festival and gastronomic fireworks beyond the traditional “Cry of Independence”.

So recently, Tlatlauquitepec, located an hour and a half from the capital of Puebla, was visited by tourists from Brazil, Panama, Honduras, and different states of the country, and also, in recent months, the state government along with the municipality invested 35 million pesos for improving urban image.

The dam “La Soledad”, the “Big Headed” Hill, waterfalls, former Franciscan convents, churches and traditional roofs are part of the tourist attractions of the town known as “Garden of Puebla´s Sierra.”

30% Increase of tourism in San Pedro Cholula

 

Cholula is undoubtedly one of Puebla´s best representatives, with the perfect blend between past, present and future, the Magic Town has enchanted visitors and locals alike, who crowd the streets and businesses of the town every weekend.

Better yet, ten months after receiving the appointment of Magic Town, San Pedro Cholula reports an increase of at least 30 percent in tourism activities in the town, as said the town’s tourism director, Miguel Jimenez Galindo, announcing their fair this 2013, to be held from August 30^th to September 16.

He stressed that the millennial show expected an economic impact of at least 10 million pesos, and it is anticipated that it´ll reach at least 70, 000 people over the three weekends of activities: “Last year we had a record of 60, 000 to 70, 000 visitors and the magical town name has statistics been detonating up and hopefully this will continue to grow,” he said.

He also mentioned that the still preserved activity of “barter” already has a record of 170 participants, who´ll conduct their activities in the Place de la Concorde on September 8^th. However, they do not rule out that the number of producers reach the 300s, same that will maintain their stalls open from 8:00 to 12:00.

It is noteworthy that the municipality will invest at least 3 million in the 63th edition of the fair, which will be employed for placing protective domes for attendees and exhibitors due to the rainy season.

Galindo Jimenez invited the general public to go to the religious, cultural and gastronomic events that are scheduled for the show, which is in honor of the Virgin of the Remedies patron of the inhabitants of San Pedro Cholula.

Puebla’s government plans new cultural tourism corridor

 

As is the fashion in the country, new tourist corridors are being planned through the most important visiting cities in the hopes to enhance what the place has to offer for all visitors. These corridors have been well received and proved to aid in this campaign, for which tey were originally intended, and as a strategy that works it is being replicated.

In Puebla City, the state government will build a cultural tourism corridor in the building located at 13 South Street, number 103 and its boundary with the Puebla Cultural Center.

This was announced by the Secretary of Higher Secondary Education of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Jorge Cruz Bermudez, who stated that soon they will begin working on the renovation of the property.

Already, the Cathedral-Fuertes Corridor is highly popular, having been planned for the Tourist Street Market last March in preparation of all international visits for the event. Now, this Corridor is also expected to function accordingly, bringing benefits to the city.

Volkswagen is the third best-selling brand

For Puebla and its automotive sector, things are going really smoothly and these results are expected to keep up not only for the German car maker with this important baseset at Puebla, but for the sector in general in the country.

On this note, in the first seven months of the year, the Volkswagen brand sold in Mexico 85, 620 units which puts it in third place in sales, only after Nissan and General Motors.

According to figures from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), Nissan was ranked as the top-selling brand, with a total of 20, 366 units, only during the month of July, while General Motors sales accumulated 18, 319 units.

As of July, Volkswagen sold 12, 219 units. Ford is ranked in fourth place with sales of 8,032 vehicles.

In total, in July this year 86, 645 light vehicles were sold in Mexico, so it was the month with higher sales, an increase of 13.4 percent compared to July 2012, when 76, 376 were units sold .

The list of the compacts was led, in the seventh month of 2013, by the Classic 4-door, which gave 4, 682 units, while in the period from January to July it sold 30 048 vehicles

In the luxury segment, the list begins with the Passat, which in July sold a total of 596 units, while in the first seven months of this year, sold 4,079 units.

Puebla will need 18,000 automotive technicians in five years

 

Talking about the great performance of the automotive sector in the State of Puebla and how beneficial it is as a consequence for the development of other sector in the State, we cite the example of the employment sector, which has been and will continue to be highly benefited from the successful development of the car makers.

On this regard, a total of 18 000 trained people in the automobile sector will be necessary for the operation of the new Audi plant and its suppliers, coupled with the needs of the Volkswagen assembly plant for the next five years.

These technicians will join the 36,000 people employed by Volkswagen which gives relevance to the opening of careers related to the sector, as said the director of the Master in Automotive Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey ( ITESM) Campus Puebla, Said Robles Casolco.

According to Robles Casolco, employment opportunities will not only involve Audi, which will be running coming the next 2016, but also in the auto parts companies, where it is estimated a significant growth in the industry, which will encourage more investments in sectors such as textiles and plastics.

As a result, there´s a boom of careers related to the automotive sector which are not a fashion product but the result of the lack of trained personnel; also, careers related to the automotive sector and are linked closely with industries like Volkswagen, now counting Audi to enter in this model.

With the advent of the luxury carmaker Audi to Puebla, higher education institutions, both public and private have concentrated their efforts on offering careers and graduate programs in areas of engineering and automotive design.

For this school year, higher education institutions with different levels of accreditation offered 18 educational plans directly linked to this area.

Among the better educated universities that include in their curricula programs related to the automotive sector are, besides PUASP, ITESM and the UPP, the University of the Americas Puebla (UDLAP) and the Universidad Iberoamericana (Ibero).

Builders in Puebla expect more work for 2014

 

The great investment volume for Puebla is coming from everywhere; it is not only the automotive and tourist sectors the ones to put in this state their trust for settling their businesses, but any kind of sector imaginable is now deriving a gain from the great development Puebla has been having.

Now is the turn of the construction industry, which is following the steps of all of the others and helping this great state keep growing and of course, reaping the benefits of choosing a place with such great potential to establish into, taking matters into their hands to negotiate and obtain more investments and plans for developments.

Seeing as infrastructure and housing is a very important aspect on which other sectors can lean, this is beneficial for many.

On this regard, members of the Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry (CMIC) plan that next year has a stronger dynamic in public works.

The president of the council, Ricardo Perez Guemez recalled that, it will be in 2014 when they set the viaduct of the Mexico-Puebla highway stretching from the town of Amozoc, to name just one of the many important works on this matter:  “The year 2014 will be a more dynamic regarding public works, we have the definition of the viaduct in the Puebla-Mexico Highway and the North beltway concession to OHL” he said.

He also announced that during August 28th to the 30th they will be developing the Construction Expo XXIII and recalled that the activities of the Expo will be held at the Centro Expositor in Puebla, the place where major firms like Cemex, Holcim, Lamosa, Novaceramic, Imperquimia and HP Design, among others, will reunite.

Guemez Perez stressed that it is expected that the Puebla Construshow (the name of this event) to gather at least 6,500 people who will have the opportunity to participate in various and valuable business meetings that are scheduled for Thursday, August 29^th.

To conclude, the economic flow that is expected for next year will range between the five billion and 14 billion pesos, depending on the project that comes to pass but equally beneficial for the state.

The Chiles en nogada Fair will garner 2 million pesos

We have talked about the Colonial charm of the state of Puebla, the allure its cultural ambience have for visitors and locals alike; food, crafts, churches, buildings, that are proof of the still living heritage and tradition the current inhabitants have keep from their ancestors over time.

And so, Puebla is amidst of one of its most prized and enjoyable traditions, awaited by those in the city, the rest of the country and even the world. The chiles en nogada season is in full swing, dedicated to this historically famous dish everyone wants and has to taste, and what better time and place to do so that in the Fair dedicated to it.

It has been reported that at least 30, 000 chiles en nogada will be elaborated over the next three Sundays in the municipality of San Nicolas de los Ranchos as part of the activities of the Fair of the same name, with which they seek to obtain an economic impact of at least 2 million pesos, as said the director of tourism of the town, Erika Ortega Arias.

It is important to note that the price of each of the peppers (chiles) will be of 80 pesos and, as asked to the 18 people who will be in charge of cooking and serve them, all will have the same size: “The price of 80 pesos includes soup or rice and water, but we also have one additional attraction, the World’s Largest Molcajete, which has a 1.20 meters diameter”.

In this molcajete (a kind of rock bowl used for centuries to grind foods), will serve as a container for at least 60 liters of green and red sauce, which you can taste with the tortillas the local women also are preparing.

“They are blue corn tortillas to which visitors may spread the molcajete sauce over and will be distributed to each and every one of the visitors who come to San Nicolas de los Ranchos on occasion of the Chile en nogada Fair,” added the representative.

It should be mentioned that the purpose of this fair is that people got to have the opportunity to consume the products of the region while keeping this delicious tradition alive.

Audi and VW settled in Puebla due to the best conditions in the world available

 

We know that Puebla has been doing amazing in terms of the automotive sector progress, this with the new Audi plant, the increment in demand of VW cars and VW investments; just yesterday we had great news regarding VW and its car 10 millionth, that we cannot avoid but to talk about the development of this industry, in its majority German, that has settled in Mexico with Puebla as one of its strongest locations.

The automotive sector of the State will grow about 50% in the next five years due to the arrival of Audi, the installation of new supplier companies and the new investments. This also signifies very important news for economy and employment, since currently, the personnel occupied by the automotive industry in Puebla ascends to 36,000 employees, a number that could be doubled with the upcoming additions and investments.

It´s only logical that Puebla is really proud of this results, and now, it has another thing to brag about: the Audi and Volkswagen companies decided to set up their plants in Puebla because in this state, they found the best conditions in the world, said Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), Alfonso Navarrete Prida, who endorsed the Federation’s commitment to continue supporting the state of Puebla and its government.

This was declared during a signing involving Governor Rafael Moreno Valle Rosas for an agreement formalizing coordination of employment and providing support to beneficiaries of the employment support, an event that took place at the Exhibitor and Convention Center.

Now, we can only wait for what is to come, but with this excellent results already showing even though Audi has not yet began official operations and with VW´s experience, we expect only more of these.

 

 

The VW Plant in Puebla, the second largest in the world

And seeing how the automotive business in Mexico is one of the most profitable in the country with many national and international investments and equally global recognition; and moreover, attracting more and more companies each time with the great results it is showing.

For Mexico, the State of Puebla is one of its strongest pillars on this business, concentrating a great part of the automotive firms and their suppliers, and thus, the production of cars and parts of the country and even, Latin America and the world.

As to prove this, just yesterday the Volkswagen vehicle shipping company installed in Cuautlancingo, Puebla celebrated the production of their automobile 10 millionth and its 11 millionth motor.

During the ceremony to celebrate this fact, Hubert Waltl, representative of Volkswagen´s Executive Board and responsible for the Production and Logistics Areas, stressed that the Puebla plant has become the second largest in the world.

In a message issued in German and translated into Spanish, he said: “Puebla´s plant went from assembling a hundred thousand units in 1989 to a record of more than 600 thousand cars in 2012, Puebla, therefore has become the second largest production of Volkswagen in the world. ”

He also stressed that they are working on the adaptation processes of the plant to make way for the manufacture of the Seventh Generation Model of the Golf line, same that will begin in the first quarter of 2014.

To this ceremony came as a guest, the State´s governor, Rafael Moreno Valle Rosas who said: “This way, company, union, state, municipal and federal administrations are going to continue to contribute and continue writing this success story called Volkswagen”.
